Physical Well-Being
The Ontario Healthy Schools Coalition held their annual conference in April 2017. Delegates that attended participated in a world café relating to the domains of wellbeing. An expert in the field addressed each domain. Dr. Dean Kriellars was the expert facilitating the physical wellbeing domain. Participants were provided a series of questions and had a brainstorming discussion about the questions.
The delegates that attended the physical well being session were asked to respond to three questions, which are listed below.
- What are the psychological and social barriers to having a physically active life?
- How does one create confidence in movement?
- Why is it that young females are less active than males (pre puberty) when in fact the activity standards are the same?

Participants were provided a series of questions and had a brainstorming discussion about the questions.

- How do you promote skill development in the cognitive domain at your organization?
- From your perspective, what would a school's cognitive domain look like/ feel like in terms of activities?

- Describe practices in your school/ board/ community that have been successful in promoting emotional wellness amongst students. How do you know these practices have been successful?
- What are the conditions and supports needed to bring these emotional wellness practices to scale in sustainable ways across Ontario schools and boards?

An expert in the field addressed each domain. Dr. Stephen Tooshkenig was the expert facilitating the spiritual wellbeing domain. Participants were provided a series of questions and had a brainstorming discussion about the questions.
The delegates that attended the spiritual well being session were asked to respond to three questions, which are listed below.
- What would a school or program look like/ act if they had a sense of spirit/ self?
- Why are the physical, cognitive, emotional and social so important for the self/spirit? To understand the spirit, you must firs understand your own sense of self/spirit. On a separate piece of paper, please create a circle-within that circle, create four sections.
- By understanding the four directions, you begin to see more of the spirit, you begin to see inside yourself, you also begin to create programs that encourage a sense of spirit.
